Day 4

Today was another terrific day at the tattoo shop. I set up and broke down Rob and Sues stations. Sue was doing some kick ass tattooing, adding on to a tattoo that she did almost 3 years ago. and when she was finished you couldnt tell the difference when the new tattoo ended and the old tattoo started. Unfortunately working there has me smoking a lot more. But its such a social thing, like what else do you do on a break? Makes no sense. I feel giddy knowing how the machines work and such. Tomorrow Mike is finishing my koi dragon, I think I'm going to have to take a perk. I did a bunch of sketches and rob said i need to work on my line work, which i defintely agree with, so he gave me some exersizes to help me learn faster...

December 19th 2008

Yesterday was my second day working at the shop. I learned how to set up and break down the machines and stations, and how to scrub tubes. I also answer the phones and such. I got to watch Rob do some memorial portraits and 2 amazing back pieces. I'm so thankful that i waited for this apprenticeship rather than rushing into one that sucked. He specializes in portraits and realistic tattoos, which is what i want to do with tattoos. My future plans in tattooing is to eventually own my own shop but what i really want to do is travel the world hopping from convention to convention tattooing anything i can get my hands on. With previous choices i've made i always had a doubt in the back of my mind, but this feels so right. I don't have a doubt that i can do this for the rest of my life. I feel like fate brought all this together, and i am definitely taking advantage of that. I know as an apprentice Im the shops bitch..but that is so alright with me, because the end result will end me up with all the certificates i need to tattoo. I'm excited to do some collaborations with Mike (drtattoogallery.com) I was supposed to go into the shop today, but the weather made it impossible. But tomorrow i'm working noon-6. So Hopefully i can learn even more! I love tattoos, tattoo shops, tattoo artists, everything about tattooing. Life is going just the way i want it too.
